• Priority is given to books that support the curriculum and that are at an appropriate level for student research.
  • CapU Library strives to create a general knowledge collection appropriate to our institutional mandate. Some books not directly related to the curriculum are ordered at the discretion of the Collections Librarian and when the budget allows.
  • We encourage all books on faculty Recommended Reading lists be requested for purchase. However, CapU Library does not buy course textbooks.

Three Options for Ordering Books

Please provide as much information as possible as this will affect how quickly the book is added to the collection.

  • Fill out the Recommend Purchases form.
  • Send an email to Karin Hall or your Liaison Librarian with the title, author(s), publishing information (company and date) and also the ISBN if available.
  • Send Karin Hall or your Liaison Librarian the above information through interoffice mail.

The acquisition process can take 2-3 weeks for eBooks and 4-8 weeks for print texts. In some cases, requests can be given rush status. If you have any questions please contact Karin Hall through email or by phone (2164).

Are You a Published Author?

We try to include books Capilano University employees in the Library‚Äôs collection. Please inform Karin Hall if you have had a book published so a copy can be ordered.
