Are you interested in borrowing from CapU Library, but are not a student, faculty or staff member? We issue library cards at no cost to:
- Community members
- Alumni
- Continuing Studies and Executive Education students
- Students from other BC universities and colleges
To receive a library card, valid photo ID with current address is required. Cards are valid for 1 year and eligible for renewal. Apply in person at the Library Services Desk to get started.
To check your library account, renew items, or change your password, go to My Library Account and login using the library card Barcode and your Password.

Books 3 weeks
DVDs/Blu-rays 1 week
CDs 1 week
Up to 5 items (books, CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays) can be borrowed at one time.
Holds & Renewals
Holds and renewals are available through your online account. Log in here, using your Password and library card Barcode. Items can be renewed once.
All items can be recalled if they are requested by another user if they have been renewed. If your renewed item is recalled, you will receive a notice with a revised due date of one week from the date of the notice (or four days, if the renewed item is a DVD). The due date will not change if an item is requested during the initial borrowing period, but the item cannot be renewed.
Borrowing Restrictions
- Due to licensing restrictions, some DVDs are available for loan only to current CapU students, faculty, and staff. These are noted with a special sticker on the case.
- Interlibrary Loan services are not available.
- Journals and magazines are not available for loan.
- Course Reserves are not available.
- Due to licensing restrictions, electronic resources are not accessible from off-campus.

Returns
Borrowed items can be returned to two locations:
- Inside, at the Library Services Desk. This book return is available anytime the Library is open.
- Outside, near the western doors of the Library building. This book return slot is on the exterior wall and is accessible anytime.
